Today I'm very pleased to announce the availability of myApi version 1.3.4 it contains a bunch of bug fixes and a whole load of new features, and we think you'll love it!
myApiTabs is a new plugin that allows you to embed your live Joomla site into any Facebook page using a Facebook tab application. You can embed any page from your site wether it be an article, or a forum. And best of all users are automatically logged into your site when they use the tab application so it suitable for showing user profiles, forums or e-commerce applications.
Third party integration
The Joomla extension directory is full of great applications, all of which do their own thing. In myApi version 1.3.4 we bring better integration to for the most popular apps like Jomsocial, K2, Kunena and Community Builder. Avatars, names, email addresses, statues and bios are all synchronised if you have any of these apps installed.
Real time updates
So you have a whole bunch of user data, basic account information, contact details, avatars and maybe even status updates in Jomsocial, but it's not much use if it's out of date. That's why myApi links into Facebook's real time updates. If a user updates their status on Facebook the change will be applied to your site's database within 60 seconds. The same goes for all profile information including avatars.
SEO Boost
Comments are great for users, but they can also be great for Google. Until now search engines could not read your comments, as Facebook comments are rendered in an iframe and this content does not usually get indexed. But myApi version 1.3.4 solves this problem. We cache your site's comments and put them in a noscript tag this means that Google and other search engines can see the comments and better rank your site.
One click
It's always been super simple to setup a new account using myApi. But now not only has the code been optimised for speed so has the user experience. Now when users click the connect with Facebook button they'll either be logged in, or a new account will be created and used for login. Users will also get a new HTML email containing the automatically generated username and password, this email also contains a list of recent status updates from your Facebook page to let the new user know what's been happening recently.
Email notifications
Get notified when users leave comments on your site with myApi emails. You can choose to receive email notifications when users leave a comment, or setup a cron job that sends out an aggregated email of all comments organised by article.
Translations
Facebook is a global phenomenon, as a result there are many user of Facebook and myApi in non English speaking countries. Version 1.3.4 comes with two translations using native language files for Norwegian and Dutch with many other languages coming over the next few weeks. If you'd like to translate myApi into any other language leave a post in the forums on how to create new language files.
Backend improvments
Version 1.3.4 brings some much needed usability improvements to the administration backend, things like search and pagination of the user list along with add as a friend buttons allow you to keep better track and connect with your users. And new colour pickers allow for a much easier customisation of modules. Along with these improvements we're also including the ability to create Facebook wall posts and broadcast them to multiple pages at once.

Facebook Connect - Allow your users to login into you site using their facebook account, myApi links facebook users to existing or new joomla account and allows native managing of users from within Joomla and compatibility with other user management systems such as community builder.
Comments - Bring ajax powered spam proof comments to your site. Automatically adds comment boxes to all articles or specific categories or sections
Share - Allow users to share your site content on the web. Automatically add share buttons to all articles and post the article contents to a users facebook profile
Fan Box - Show case your online communities members by showing a facebook fan box on your site.
Activity Box - Display an activity box on your site to see what your users have been sharing
